GAME TWO: Alabama at Georgia Tech

Final Score:
Alabama: 49 (1-0)
Georgia Tech: 24 (0-1)

Player of the Game: AJ McCarron: 10-15 277 yards 4 TD, 277.9 rating

Quick Note:
Sorry for the delay between games!!! My roster files were deleted, so I've been replugging in all of these rosters. This was long, tedious work (especially while doing law school), so it took a while. But now, the games should be back at a more consistent pace!

Recap:
The Crimson Tide asserted their dominance in this game, especially during the second quarter when they blew the score wide open. The Yellow Jackets held the ball early, keeping Alabama from touching the ball on offense until less than 4 minutes remained in the second quarter. Unfortunately, they trailed 7-3 when they kicked off to Alabama thanks to a devastating 91 yard INT TD by CB Menzie to end G. Tech's first drive. The Tech secondary could not stop the Alabama wide receivers, who shredded Tech deep (27.7 yards per catch, 4 TD) and a 28-3 halftime score turned into 35-3 after the Tide scored in 5 plays to start the second half. Good start for the division favorites.

Highlights:

Georgia Tech's offense got the game out to a promising start, until this key interception completed killed the Jackets' momentum and gave the Tide (an almost expected) defensive touchdown. The 91 yard INT return set my record book for longest INT (I just cleared the records to make it easy to tell who did the best during this simulation)

Julio Jones is an absolute stud, especially going one on one with no-name G. Tech defenders.

Just like Julio, it's unfair matching a guy like Amari up against this secondary.

Joe Hamilton may not have had a runner-up for the Heisman, All American performance in this game (2 INT will do that), but he had a pretty sweet pump fake/deep ball combination on this TD pass to Calvin Johnson in the 4th Quarter. If the Jackets can keep from turning it over, maybe they can steal a game or two from lesser division opponents.
